Give Me Liberty!: An American History, Second Seagull Edition, Volume 2 Review

I always found this book a nice read in general compared to most other history textbooks during my American History class. Dense material, of course, but very readable.

When I later used this as a significant source for a research paper is when I really saw how excellent it is. The book's biggest strength, in my personal opinion, is that it talks about freedom a lot-- how peoples' perception of it changed over time, and how American history is in many ways a story of various groups struggling for different types of freedom. Reading about different eras of American history and the various details is strongly aided by having it accompanied with a general overview of such a broad, interesting philosophical topic as freedom. It really makes this American history source unique. Thanks Foner!

Easy read, good-size chapters - SpanishSpeaker -
I recommend you buy the book now before the price goes back up like it did with me. I ordered this for my History 102 course just about a week ago and the price has dropped by at least . It's a good read because the text is easy to understand the first time around and although the font size is small, the chapters are of decent length, not long enough to kill you, but not too short as to insult you.

I was satisfied with my used text book. I will purchase more of my text books this way again! You can't beat the price, but it looked a little more used then I expected.



Very bad delivery - Gaviota - Maryland
The book was in good condition, just as described. The problem was the delivery. FedEx didn't bother to knock at MY door, they knocked at the front door of the building and I don't even use that door. The front door has a code they could have gotten at the office of the apartment complex, but why would they bother? I paid extra to get my books sooner since I needed them! and I ended up getting them more than 10 days later and I HAD TO pick them up at the FedEx location that was far and difficult to find. Very angry with the delivery system. Not happy at all.
