Like anything Dr. Sowell does, this hits the nail on the head. However, its a tough read as every word influences the understanding of the subject. It does explain how some on the liberal side can hold their opinions in the face of overwhelming evidence to the contrary. It is truly, a vision thing. Worthwhile as an addition to your library, but don't expect to read it in one sitting.

I haven't finished this yet, but I can tell it is a well-researched book. I have always been curious about what causes people to end up on opposite sides of political issues. The writing is quite academic and informative. I am finding that I'm reading it very slowly.

I've read several of Dr. Sowell's books now and this one has me feeling a bit disappointed. I realize it's not one of his economic based books but it's simply just boring. I did enjoy his opinion of Adam Smith's books and how they relate to his thesis but other than that, it was extremely repetitive. I hope this isn't your first experience with Thomas Sowell's book because it could make it your last. Please read his economic books and you will enjoy him a lot more.
